  • Are you in the dark during load shedding?
  • Does your favourite program stop recording on your PVR?
  • Do you need to catch up work on your computer?
  • Does your phone run flat when you need it the most?

You need an inverter system. See below Frequently Asked Questions on how they work:

Q) What is an inverter system and what does it do do?
It is an inverter unit coupled with a battery which provides power when there is load shedding. It keeps its battery charged when there is Eskom power. As soon as Eskom power cuts, the system instantly transfers over to battery power so you can keep your lights, TV, computers (excluding Apple MAC Desktops only), chargers and wifi running during load shedding

Q) Is it easy to connect up? Do I have to fiddle with electronics?
It is super easy The system is plug and play.
The inverter has a regular 3 pin plug that goes into the wall. You then have a 3 way multiplug on the inverter that allows you to connect any appliance you want. Keep the appliances connected at all times, the inverter will automatically switch to battery as soon as it detects Eskom power is down.

Q) How much backup time will I have on the unit before normal Eskom power come back on to recharge the battery?
Assume a computer, TV, and desk lamp are connected to the inverter:
This unit will last 4-6 hours

Only want a lamp, wifi router and laptop connected to the inverter:
This unit will last 10-12 hours

Q) What appliances can I run on the inverter system?
Our plug and play systems will run any appliance that has low power usage and does not have a motor. So you can run TVs, computers, wifi, lights, chargers, etc.
Fridges, fans, heaters are not recommended to be connected to inverters. For those items, we can suggest a more specialised system - please click "contact us" and let us know your requirements.

Please note, this unit is considered as a 'large' UPS - it will not be able to charge a smaller UPS as it is modified sine wave

Q) What is the warranty/guarantee?

The entire system comes with a full 1 year warranty.

Kit Includes:

1x Mecer 2400VA, 1440W, 24V DC-AC Inverter UPS (20A Charger)

Unit Dimensions: 44cm(H) x 39cm(W) x 38cm(L)

The batteries in this unit are designed for backup use only - not for daily SOLAR OFF-GRID charging/discharging

Can I connect additional batteries to the Mecer 2400VA Inverter + 2x 102Ah Battery KIT - 1440W? Answer:
Yes. As long as you connect 2 at a time since it's a 24V system
  • Asked by Barry
Good day, I want to upgrade the system to 4 or 6 Batteries, will the batteries fit in the cabinet? or do you have larger cabinets. Kind regards Answer:
You can upgrade to more batteries. This will hold up to 6 batteries. So if you'd like that instead, you can deduct R800 from the kit in question: <a href="http://www.geewiz.co.za/battery-containers/25993-c6-steel-battery-cabinet-holds-6x-100ah-batteries-incl-circuit-breaker.html">http://www.geewiz.co.za/battery-containers/25993-c6-steel-battery-cabinet-holds-6x-100ah-batteries-incl-circuit-breaker.html</a>
  • Asked by Craig
Will this unit function like a normal ups? In other words, can I plug my pc into it and it will stay on when there is a power outage. Also, do I need a special db board for this unit or do I just plug it into a wall socket? Answer:
Yes, it will function like a regular UPS. It is a plug and play unit, so you will not need a separate DB board. Think of itthe same as normal computer UPS just with extra long run time
  • Asked by Hannes
Is this suitable to run some network equipment in a power outage? Specifically a router, two access points, two low power PCs used for servers and some external hard drives (3.5")? I am a but confused and don't understand when you need "Pure (true) Sine Wave". If this specific unit will not work please can you recommend something else? Answer:
Yes. For those items, modified sine wave is fine and it can definitely run all of that for a few hours
  • Asked by Marilise
Could you please assist: I want to run 2 pc's, 1 telephone line and a security camera on the inverter (1440W inverter, with 2x 12v batteries) Would that be sufficient? Answer:
    100% sufficient
  • Asked by Reenen
what type of batteries are included (brand) and what brand of batteries are the upgraded deep cycle batteries? Is there a substantial benefit in upgrading to the deep cycle batteries? Is collection an option? Answer:
    1) Energizer 105ah high cycle batteries 2) Enertec 105ah deep cycle battery (made in same factory as Energizer) 3) Yes, the deep cycle will have around 20% longer life span than high cycle
  • Asked by allan winik
in your advert you say there is a 1yr guarantee. will it be a onsite repair or do i have to take it in for repairs and what does the guarantee cover Answer:
It is a carry in warranty. The warranty covers the inverter and battery against manufacturer faults - so for example, if your batteries suddenly stop holding charge or the inverter stops giving output, we will then send it in for repair/replacement
  • Asked by Craig
Can you daisy-chain these inverters to make them supply power longer? Answer:
Yes, but rather than add more inverters, all you need to do is just add another 2 batteries
  • Asked by John

Why does the description exclude Apple Mac, won't the inverter charge a MacBook Pro Answer:
Macbook Pro will be OK. Apple Mac desktop uses a power correction PSU, so needs a pure sine wave inverter.
  • Asked by a guest
On your mecer 2400va inverter does it use pure sine or modified sine wave output? Answer:
It is a modified sine wave unit
  • Asked by Louis Ackermann
    Why not apple mac? Answer:
Apple Mac uses a special power correcting PSU - this type of PSU requires a pure sine wave inverter to operate
  • Asked by Suraldi Nel
Is it safe to run a smart TV off a modified sine wave? I am confused as to what electronics cannot be run on modified sine wave - would appreciate guidance! Answer:
Yes, it is safe. Generally any motor products and highly sensitive items like large audio amplifiers should be avoided with modified sine wave. Smart TVs will work 100%.

Very Great Load shedding and overall back up power solution

At first I was totally not sure if this was going to sort of help with powering all my devices when the power is gone. I even called the team at GeeWiz to try and understand if this was the right choice or not.

Then I decided to buy it anyway and it works very well in powering the below setup:

Gaming PC: i7 10700K, 16GB Ram 3600Mhz, 512GB nvme drive, RTX 3080, 4TB HDD, 860w powersupply, 27" Dell 2721dgf monitor.
TV - LG C1 55"
Wifi Router - Metrofibre
Soundbar - Samsung Q950T

Did a few tests, with all devices powered on and just the gaming PC for the load shedding duration: -

1. having everything plugged in from 100 Battery percentage, for 2 hours there was still 75% left.
2. Gaming - for 2 hours on the PC there was still 50% left since the system is a bit powerful.

With just idle usage on TV, Router - you should be able to have power the whole 24 hours

Works great! Great quality!

Jannie recommended this unit for me and it's perfect. My requirement was to have a load shedding solution while working from home, running two laptops with two screens each and the fiber boxes. This silent unit exceeds expectations. It only drops 25% in a 3 hour period, and it's back to full capacity within a few hours. The build quality is fantastic, the parts and cables will not be the weakest link in the system. it's heavy but the lockable caster wheels handles the requirement to relocate to the power shortage area with ease.
