The Enertec (105AH – 12V) DEEP CYCLE Maintenance Free Batteries.
These batteries are designed for backup/marine use only - not for daily SOLAR OFF-GRID charging/discharging
Deltec batteries never need water. Antimony-free plates cut electrolyte loss from gassing. Special liquid-gas separator keeps electrolyte inside.
No filler caps - so no electrolyte contamination, overwatering or damage in use.
Unique wrought lead-calcium grid design means less internal corrosion and efficient current conductivity for more power and longer life. It also cuts gassing, resists overcharge, heat and thermal runaway. Generous electrolyte reserve, factory checked for purity and specific gravity, is sealed in to last the service life of the battery.

I have a 5 kw Mecer/Axpert Inverter, 9 x 250 watt solar panels and 4 x 200 Ah Gel Batteries. The inverter is also connected to Eskom grid. 2 Of the 4 bateries collapsed within a few months. Now I was told that my inverter is not compatable to Gel batteries. The inverter does not provide the neccecary charge to load the batteries and the result is that the batteries collapse. Can you please give me advice.Answer:
You need to check the recommended charge voltages for the batteries. You can then set the different charge voltages on the Mecer unit

How do you determine if the battery meets its A/H rating? Eg. what load do you use (ie current) whilst monitoring the discharge period (time) that the battery can supply this test load, current. Answer:
Batteries are rated over a 20 hour period. So you would need to run a 5Ax12V load for 20 hours = 60W for 20 hours. However, that will take the battery to 0%. So to be safe, run it for 10 hours and you should get to 50% SoC (around 11V)

The red light was showing indicating less thsn 50% charge. I charged for 48 hours and the red light was still showing but the voltage read 16.what must i do?Answer:
Nothing - it just needs to equalize for the indicator to go green - this takes a few days to change colour. A small shake of the battery can also help
